SJB finalises National List nominees

Colombo, December 12 (Daily Mirror)- The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) finalised its nominees for the remaining national list slots today.

Accordingly, Sujeewa Senasinghe, Mano Ganesan, Nizam Kariappar and Mohammed Muthu were nominated by the party.

Senasinghe told the Daily Mirror that the names were sent to the Election Commission.

The four nominees are expected to be sworn in on Tuesday, December 17 2024.

Number of nominees alloated very few. Not much choice. Opposition is weak, hence easy pickings for the ruling party to pass any bills so desired.

Preferential votes of the first candidates of each district of the SLMC, Rishad's, Digambarans, Dayasiri's, Dallas', etc., under the SJB must have been considered, separately and divided by the total valid votes of the SJB received and get the value. As it is less than 0.5, they don't deserve a member nominated / elected for them. It is a breach of the fundamental rights of the SJB people voted other than of the people of other affiliated parties.
