SLC elections likely to be postponed

The Sri Lanka Cricket elections scheduled for May 19 is likely to be postponed on the advice of the Attorney General's Department, sources said.

They said that Acting Sports Minister Faiszer Musthapha had sought AG Department advise on a complaint received with regard to the formation of the Election Committee.

In a letter sent by the Director General of the Department Of Sports Development, Buwaneka Herath, he had asked that a Special General Meeting (SGM) be convened for the appointment of a new Election Committee.

According to sports regulations, the Election Committee should be appointed at an Annual General Meeting or at a Special General Meeting.

The deadline for nominations for the Cricket Election ended today (27). (TK)

Dear Sir,What has the Attorney General got to do with the Sri Lanka Cricket elections. Has there been not enought of nonesense in the country. Why dont the AG go and arrest the corrupt politicians in the country instead of dabbling in the Cricket Association.This then is the real cruz of the issues of the country. Incompetent and politicos put in responsible jobs but do not do their work,duties and responsiblities at the tax payers money.Wake Up PM this nonesense has to stop and run the country the proper way. Is MS involved in this matter as his buddy Sumithipala is in the root of the troubles in the Sri lanka Cricket AssociationHonestly, we are going down the drain faster than expected and the AG should be fired.Any other cricket nation reading this news of the AG we will become the laughing stock of the cricketing world.
