SLPA refutes reports on ’’Lavish party on a ship for MPs’’

Colombo, Jan. 10 (Daily Mirror)- Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) refuted reports that a group of MPs had a lavish party organised on a ship and claimed that it was only an inspection tour of the development activities at the Colombo ports.

It said in a statement that the Ports Authority organise such inspection tours for various Head of State, VIPs, professionals and journalists in the inner and outer harbour in a move to provide correct information on the development activities at the ports.

The statement said that Ports Authority organised an inspection tour for a group of ministers and MPs on the request of Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva and Priyankara Jayaratne to witness the development of the Eastern Jetty, the JCT terminal and West terminal.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority said it had not borne any expenses for food or anything else as reported.

SLPA always refutes, there are several illegal works even appoints are made without interviews for higher posts and unqualified persons are appointed on higher positions for corruption, even the God can not help this country for better future for the childrens of this Country, a seperate commission should be appointed to investigate all the illegal activities going on in the SLPA to stop corruption.

In SL if a executive goes overseas for a week on official matter , it becomes an ‘lavish party’ for those who won’t get the opportunity. Referring to even private organizations. Only the person who goes on such tour knows the stress, time difference trauma plus achieving the objectives of such visit. A person who clocks in at 8 , wastes time and then clocks out at 5 - won’t know any difference. They will not even know the true definition of a ‘lavish party’

Are the government Audit deparment is functioning, the should audit all financial transaction and last one year internal promotion name list to check are qualified persons are appointed, how many of them are appointed through interview on merit basis, how many are promoted without interview and confirmed to post permanently.
