Colombo, July 30 (Daily Mirror) - The decision by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to field its own candidate for the presidency is imaterial as a majority of the Ministers and MPs of this party is backing incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said.

"Many MPs from the SLPP have already pledged their support to President Wickremesinghe and therefore there has been no setback for him," Range Bandara told the Dailly Mirror.

All of you starving poor souls doesn't have to vote for Ranil. India will make sure TNA and Muslim parties bring in 10% of votes. Educated and posh UNP voters will bring in 10% of votes. If SLPP minister can bring in 10% of more votes Ranil will be the president because nobody is going to get over 35% in this election.

If SLPP support is immaterial why did Sagala and others visit MR and begged for support. Mark my words Range, Ranil will withdraw from the race if SLPP have their own candidate. Many SLPP who are with Ranil cannot get the votes they had at the last election as many of those votes will go to other candidates and some remain with SLPP

If that man did not take over there would have been anarchy in this country without a government. You stupid people deserve that fate. If NPP comes to power the first thing to happen is lack of international confidence leading to a sliding rupee. That is a correct statement. Thank you! What plan does NPP have to rebuild the nation? They are just good at storytelling to please the people as if they were kids. But, as you correctly said, the silent majority of this country is fully cognizant of the work this man has done for the past two years. No world leader has revived a country as Ranil has done in the recent past. The NPP guys are good at making puerile statements such as "Elon Musk is an economic hitman". They are worse than frogs in a well!

what is the international confidence you are talking about. $ value is mainly depending on the foreign remittance from sri Lankan workers , specially from Middle-East . More than 80% of these people eagerly looking for a NPP government and we are working hard to achieve that from abroad.

Yeah, RW got his personal cash and got us fuel, gas etc. He did what he knows best. Sold our sovereign assets to India and got loans from all over to accumalate more debts and got us out of the queues era. The difference was, GR and his clan didn't have the brains to do it. They were a bunch of duds this country voted for.

Ranil is NOT an UNP candidate, he is independent. Wonder what symbol he will get. No one is contesting from UNP, at least they could have given the opportunity to FM SF.
