SLPP to have a new face in North, Geethanath Cassilingham to contest from Jaffna

Colombo, October 09 (Daily Mirror)-  Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Politburo member Geethanath Cassilingham signed nomination papers to contest the upcoming General Election from the Jaffna District.

He signed the nomination papers in the presence of former President and Leader of the SLPP Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Cassilingham previously served as the Co-ordinating Secretary to Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Cassilingham has already pledged to address the grievances of the Tamil community in the north and work at improving the livelihoods, especially for the youth in the districts. Some of the other areas he will focus on is seeking a solution to the longstanding fishermen issue in the north, increasing agriculture exports and conveting the north into an international trading hub which will in turn create employment for the local community.
