Sajith comes to Parliament wearing a shawl

Parliament, Dec. 7 (Daily Mirror)- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa came to Parliament wearing a black and white shawl which he said signified a call for global peace.

“When I came to the lobby wearing this shawl an MP asked me whether I am supporting Palestine or Israel. I told him that I am not supporting any side but I wore the shawl to call for global peace,” Premadasa said.

“We see many countries taking sides. Most of them are backing Israel. However, one has to condemn the killings by both sides. It is our opinion that there should be a two state solution to the Gaza crisis and both Israel and Palestine should co-exist,” he added.

However Premadasa's shawl did not have a flag like those worn by MPs such as Rauff Hakeem and Dilan Perera.

This guy is becoming a bigger clown by each passing day! How about having consensus and peace in party politics to bring the country out of its economic mess. Oh no that's too much to ask for! He will want to distribute freely on the public purse to take in a few votes. It's far easier to call for and support global peace in a token manner by cladding a silly shawl.

Looks like fashion bumped into politics in Parliament today! Sajith is wrapped in a bed sheet, missing a pillow. I can guess where this is heading now. It seems like Sajith wants to adopt a snooze mode, just like his former boss RW, maybe even planning a KANNA shot to become president in this country.

Please please opposition leader stop this attention seeking drama, please go stand for a better sri Lanka as the leader of the opposition. Please stand to better the lives and help with the president to take this country out of its current predicament rather than all this atte tion seeking nonsense. You wearing a shawl is not going to help anyone and why did you not wear the Ukranian flag and stand for Ukraine against Russia. That would have been a good gesture as it started in Feb 24th 2022. This is just a laughing matter what you are doing now Where were you when what happend in sri Lanka why dont you do anything now rgat you are kn parliment. This is just a 15 seconds of fame.

Atleast Sajith Premadasa came to parliament fully clothed wearing a shawl while i am told in the early sixties the former PM of Sri Lanka and one time Leader of the opposition W. Dahanayaka came to parliament one day wearing just an amudey. He was protesting about the lack of clothing material in the Srimavo Bandaranayake government.
