Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa has warned that the SJB would, from today, begin to hold protests in the constituencies of all MPs who voted against the no confidence motion on Minister Udaya Gammanpila yesterday.
Speaking to journalists during a protest organized by his party in Divulapitiya, Premadasa said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) was able to uncover who was sensitive to the people’s needs and who was not through this motion.
“We were able to see as who was against the fuel price hike and who was not,” Mr. Premadasa said.
He further said the no confidence motion against Gammanpila had brought the entire opposition together though it was defeated.
He also said the SJB was able to prove that it did not engage in deal politics.
MPs Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Nalin Bandara Jayamaha, Kavinda Jayawardene, Harshana Rajakaruna, Thushara Indunil Amarasena, Sumith Sanjaya Perera and Ajith Mannaperuma were present at the protest. SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanyake, Rajitha Senaratne, Patali Champka Ranawaka and Kumara Welgama were notable absentees. (Yohan Perera and Pushpakumara Mallawarachchi)
