Parliament, Nov. 30 (Daily Mirror)-Claiming that the Opposition Leader had used more than 200 minutes in addition to the allocated time in Parliament for a period of two weeks, Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga urged the Speaker to take steps to manage the time.
He told Parliament that some 552 minutes had been used by the ruling and Opposition MPs in Parliament in addition to the allocated time for the business of the day, while Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa had used 204 minutes out of that between November 14 and 28.
Minister Ranatunga said some 50 minutes had been wasted by the MPs this morning alone for matters outside the business of the day.
He urged the Speaker to find a solution to manage the time and proposed a reduction in the allocated from both the ruling and Opposition sides in proportion to the time wasted by both sides.
