Sajith would have faced same fate as Gota if elected President in 2019: Ashu
June 13, (Daily Mirror) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa would have faced the same fate as that of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa if he had been elected as President in 2019, Presidential Advisor Ashu Marasinghe said today.
"Premadasa would have had to leave the presidency even sooner than Gotabaya Rajapaksa had to, if he had been elected," Marasinghe told a media briefing.
Marasinghe denied the allegations by Premadasa that many UNPers did not back him at the last Presidential election.
"We worked 24 hours during the 2919 Presidential campaign. It was us who advised Premadasa on the issues he should highlight when he was travelling meeting people face to face.," he said.
