Sri Lanka’s cricket legends Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara have thrown their weight behind the government’s newly launched ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative.
Aimed at promoting cleanliness and sustainable practices, the initiative was officially inaugurated yesterday (01) at the Presidential Secretariat, with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake presiding over the event.
Speaking to the media, Jayawardena highlighted the importance of public involvement in the programme.
“As citizens, we have a great responsibility to take this project forward. This is a great start and there’s much to do,” he said.
Furthermore, Sangakkara echoed his sentiments, describing the initiative as a timely effort to unify the political and administrative sectors while encouraging a cultural shift in societal values.
