Colombo, Oct 24 (Daily Mirror) - Special security has been deployed and police patrols increased around Chabad houses (Jewish prayer halls) in several areas, in the country including in Colombo, following the warning of potential attacks on Israeli tourists.

Accordingly, security has been heightened near Chabad houses in the Colombo, Arugam Bay, Ella and Weligama areas where Israeli tourists visit.

Police said security had been provided to these areas prior to the advisory issued by embassies.

Minister Vijitha Herath also said today that special security measures were taken at the beginning of this month in the areas of Arugam Bay, Ella, Weligama and Ahungalla where tourists visit.
