Colombo, September 27 (Daily Mirror) - Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Priyantha Weerasooriya has been appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) with immediate effect.

While congratulating you AIGP, As you knew that you could not do anything while you were in traffic,please stop the police officers getting bribe in traffic, please .how many deaths we have daily . scared to travel. Drunken drivers, not following traffic laws and marked lanes ,fast driving and some drive 72 hours non stop.Hope new AIGP will stop police getting bribe and regulate the transport industry so all can be safe on the road.

Good analysis, His performance should be evaluated based on number of crimes solved, traffic violations, traffic accidents and casualties thereon, drug dealer reduction, etc. Show the results in 12 months please .

I sincerely hope this is a new dawn for Ceylon after the chauvinism nepotism and corruption of the past 76 years. Hopefully the sincere people who voted for other parties in the presidential election will see the light and give AKD the parliamentary majority he deserves to govern in his own right and avoid the excesses of the past. I will watch closely the ensuing months and then consider visiting the country after migrating 51 years ago. God bless and guide the NPP and its leaders.
