Senior lawyer Gowry Shangary Thavarasha, one of the leading instructing attorneys in Human Rights cases, died of Covid-19 on Monday (23).

President’s Counsel K.V. Thavarasha is the husband of late Gowry Shangary Thavarasha.

In a Facebook message, the President of Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) Saliya Pieris PC stated that Gowry Shangary Thavarasha was a brave lady fighting tooth and nail for her clients.

Gowry Shangary Thavarasha, Attorney-at-law our friend who fearlessly took up difficult causes of clients over several decades often standing upto the might of the State, is no more, Pieris said.

The BASL President said her loss will be felt at Hulftsdorp. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

She had many a task to re-gain human rights that has been breached pretending to be COVID 19 pandemic. We doubt because of that purpose her life was taken away by a sinister move.
