A 53-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in the Ruwanwella area of Matara this evening (15), according to police. 

The victim, was travelling in a three-wheeler when he was targeted by an assailant who arrived in a car.

The police spokesman’s office confirmed that the shooter used a pistol to carry out the attack, opening fire on the victim before fleeing the scene. 

Further investigations are underway.
