Six emergency sluice gates open in Kalawewa

With the higher rainfall in the catchment areas around Kalawewa, two emergency sluice gates were opened six feet each on the instructions of the Bowatthenna Irrigation Engineer. Currently, the total water capacity of Kalawewa is 86,916 acre-feet.
According to the irrigation engineer, with the opening of the emergency sluice gates in Kalawewa, about 6,300 cubic feet per second of water are being released to the Kala Oya.
