Some religious leaders who have links with criminals criticize crackdown on criminals: Minister
Public Security Minister Tiran Alles said even some religious leaders who maintain links with organized criminal gangs act with hypocrisy making remarks critical of the police crackdown on criminals.
Addressing a function in Homagama, he said politicians also indulge in such acts to demoralize the police.
“This is to distract the police operations . These elements have undertaken a contract . We encounter various challenges in the process including threats on personal safety . I , as the subject minister , am determined to forge ahead with these operations against all odds . The President gives me necessary courage for it. I request all concerned to boost the morale of the Police ,” he said .
He said the former President assigned this responsibility to him though he was unwilling to assume it first.

Mate, if you are so certain of these "religious leaders" connected to the thugs why not arrest them? Would you also like to declare your assets and disclose how you obtained your properties in the UK as per the Pandora report? Would Deshabandu also like to disclose the names of the people that he associstes together with Tiran and have regular dinners and entertainment gatherings with? Would they also disclose and investigate the parliamentarians who are connected to drugs and the criminals? This idiot is trying to create chaos and division among religions, which is part of the Rajapkase agenda. 2019 it was about Muslims and the doctor together with the thug monk gnanasara, unfortunately people in Sri Lanka forget things quickly. His words seems empty specially when you see his past work and recent shell comapanies. Sounds very suspecious. Probably trying to divert attention away from his mischievous work. There are many a police projects to stop this drug trade around the world , this war on illicit drugs and this never ending war and the innocent victims mostly children .., but I never hear or read the Ministers in charge constantly crowing about the action plan but more on the diligent Police in action . .. why does this Minister give public statements on a daily basis ? Please give the public officials the freedom to plan act name and bring the predator before the law .Not the victim but the drug lord hidden the benefactor to some but evil to many

Alles is not much known character as politician but here in comments give he too is controversial person but what he is trying to do is commendable,but doubtful whether he is going to flush out all or against him and trying to use this opportunity to kneel would be down civil unrest against current economical conditions, establishing police power using his newly appointed acting IG, whom too wants to show off due to his tainted past, acting IG should come out with proof of his recent accusation,to know who is lying

Minister who cannot WALK THE TALK, should keep his mouth shut and let his actions speak . Tiran Alles has a bad track record, and is NOT at all qualified to hold this very important and sensitive Ministry. But we know who RW is. So we would just have to grin and bear. This is all a big smoke screen by both Tiran and deshabandhu. They think that everyone are fools and that they are very convincing to everyone. Only the Baiyyas would swallow all this bullcrap. Its their type of bed time story.

Lot of negative comments from righteous people. I am in the US and the Biden administration has done nothing to control the narcotic problem. It is devastating communities. Young people are dying like flies and totally wasted. Crime is high everywhere people kill, steal and destroy and nothing happens to them. Homeless are living on every street in major cities, peeing and pooping on the street, no one can walk anymore. It is destroying the once beautiful parks, even children's playground, parks and communities where homeless put up tents and live due to addictions. Used needles and syringes thrown everywhere it is dangerous to walk. It is a terrible situation. The videos are available on YouTube please watch and see what Sri Lanka can become very soon. This operation if done right is a good thing and will save many young lives in the long run.
