Sri Lanka braces for continued unsettled weather patterns

Colombo, July 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory indicating that the prevailing windy conditions over the island nation are set to continue owing to an active South-west Monsoonal condition.

According to the advisory, strong winds reaching speeds of about 50-60 kilometers per hour (kmph) are anticipated at times.

These winds are likely to affect the Western slopes of the central hills and spread across the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces. Furthermore, districts such as Trincomalee, Monaragala, and Hambantota are also expected to experience these strong gusts.

For other parts of the island, the forecast predicts fairly strong winds blowing at speeds of 30-40 kmph intermittently.

In addition to the winds, multiple spells of showers are forecasted across Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, along with the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara.
