Sri Lanka hikes imported milk powder prices

Colombo, Jan 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Milk Powder Importers' Association has declared an imminent increase in prices.

Beginning next week, consumers can expect a Rs. 30 hike for a 400g packet of imported milk powder and a substantial Rs. 75 increase for a 1kg packet.

The association attributes this adjustment to various factors such as VAT hike affecting the import and distribution of milk powder.

all consumer suppliers have very conveniently increased prices which. absorb the vat charge defeating the purpose of the consumer authority. All milk powder commodities come from south of the equator
