Sri Lanka included into FIFA 2026 WC qualifiers on strict conditional basis

Football's world governing body FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have approved and included Sri Lanka into the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on a strict conditional basis.

Sri Lanka's first qualifier is on October 12, and Football Sri Lanka (FSL) will need to conduct its election of office bearers atleast 10 days before, or they will not be allowed to participate in the qualifiers.

This move comes on the heels of the Sports Minister appointing a three-member committee to call and hold FSL elections. (Susil Premalal)
