Sri Lanka suffer their heaviest defeat in WC history, lose to India by 302 runs
Sri Lanka were bowled out for their lowest score in World Cup history and suffered their biggest defeat ever in the tournament, losing to India by 302 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It was also the second heaviest defeat in World Cup history, marginally better than the 309-run loss Netherlands suffered at the hands of Australia earlier in this year's tournaments.
Chasing a 358-run target, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 55, with India's fast bowlers accounting for all but one wicket.
Mohammed Shami finished with figures of 5 for 18, taking his tally in this year's tournament to 14 in just three matches.
Five Sri Lankan batsmen were dismissed for nought, with Kasun Rajitha top scoring with 14 off 17 deliveries.

Sri Lanka have lost their way and lack professionalism. The only bowler who did us proud is Dilshan Madushanka who bowls with a purpose. A few batsman have shone in patches but are very in consistent. I hope they realise that they are playing for their country.

Sack slc board and selection comittee. Also get rid of that joker mahela who is the main culprit. Then probably better to sack headless headcoacjh and the whole coaching staff. Kickout players like dimuth,game de silva,mendis and kjp who cannot even bat when ball moves and any kind of help exists for ballers. Build a new team around players like Nissanka,Sadeera,Madushanka and Theekshana.

C'mon guys, don't be so harsh. Indian here. India is just having an unbelievably good run and doing this consistently, lately. No need to criticize the team like this. In the past, Sri Lanka also handed huge defeats to India. I just hope our streak lasts all the way to the finals since we have a habit of choking in them.

If all the players from the 10 teams are pooled and then 9 teams were chosen from the pool, how many of the SL players will be left out from any of the 9 teams? The correct answer is.............................. the entire team, including Madhushanka.

Really so worstly played... Great thing is they add 5 runs more than Asia cup Final. This is not the competitiveness way to play a game that too international game representing whole country. Its not first time facing pace bowling but behaving in a more novice way.Even gully cricketers been taken to team they may even score 150..How a small teams like Afg Ned are playing in the most consistent way upto their levels. Sbi Lanka cricket is dead. Only Sri Lanja can do the impossible to be out for less than 60 in the soap e of two months, must be a Guiness Book of Records. Why is DDS is playing at no6, neither dies he bowl nor does he score a d the only player to smile when he loses his wicket. I guess best is to let Dimuth toconcentrate on Test and sd he requested to groom a new test captain, drop DDS DS KJP from all formats and let them go practise and earn their place and DS to be dropped from captaincy. Kidal Mendis needs to be dropped build a new team with new vision and mission. This will be the best time to prepare for the next phase.Manage players properly work load balance. Not to have big salaries give 50% the balance barf in performance ability to win as there should he a reason. Check personal.sponsorship and a % to sri Lanka cricket the account to be monitored by an accounting firm. Even the adminstration staff should be paid based on teams performance

What many of us find disgusting (apart from the rotten display of the game) is when the captain's comments at the end of the game commends and raise high praises to the opponents!! This I find disgusting. We all know that the winner played a better game. The Sri Lanka captain should promise to play better the next time.

Honestly, why are we paying these people and their coaches an amount exceeding $100,000 when they can't even play or apparently coach the players. Isn't it time to cut back on unnecessary expenses? Are we unable to use local coaches who actually are able to show results? Use that amount for education which we lack so much or medication etc. Why not launch an investigative journalism into expenses that do not give a valued return?

As for the SL cricketers and it’s cricketing governance who have been rapidly going downhill, I believe that every barb directed towards this pathetic bunch of losers, who seem to hold no pride representing their motherland, is very well justified. This is our civilised way of expressing frustration, unlike some who smash property and burn stadiums, when things don't go their way.

Present president declared SL is bankrupt, now his cricket team declared SL cricket is bankrupt. Arrest all members of cricket board and prosecute them to maximum for embezzlement and corruption in the cricket board. Need to change the constitution quickly to allow club officials voting to elect the board of cricket. New cricket board should non paid volunteers with heart to improve the cricket culture in SL.

This was coming for some time. The Minister should act quickly. The selection committee should resigned or be sacked. The top management need to be re-organised, but it will be a long process. Coaching staff positions should be reviewed. The board pays Silverwood $30 k, Maheela, $20k, Nawaz $14k etc a total of $119,200 (or about Rs 39 Million) per month, base salaries only. Where are the results?

Strangely, it's the feeble and wayward bowling coupled with horror fielding lapses (many diving after the ball has sped past included) that has culminated in such debacles. Once you allow the opposition to go merry through these, the batting that follows get blown into smithereens by the tails up opposition bowlers, breaking records in the process. Madushanka is the lone man standing. Our next best Rajitha is a foot down in the wickets column.

Still every member of the board and the 100 coaches, advisers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, specialists for a team of 11 players will have their jobs. What a joke.

The team management must be change the coaching staff and the selection committee also must resign it was very disappointing and disgrace, I wonder how we qualified to play in the WC matches we should go back and play ella cricket. Sack the couch he gave a press conference before match that we can achieve what we lost in Asia cup. He should resign immediately sack all the couching staff. Boys played well to loose baldy, all credit to mudushan that he took rohit wicket otherwise they could have scored even 450 runs.

Entire cricket board, selectors and all players should move out, the coach should explain the debacle,a new system to select players should be envisaged, select players from champion and runner-up teams, of each provincial tournaments, besides, request, the coaches of schools to forward the names of good players in all categories to the selectors/ cricket board, form teams then fix matches, among them to pick good performers.

Sri Lanka always had batting issues. This batting line up is pol adi batters except Niisanka and Samare. Must have solid new batters at the top to avoid repeated collapse. Mendis and Asalanka are total failures. If Mendis selected in the team he sould bat at number 7 and do the wicket keeping. Sending such a careless strokepalyer at the top is been a disaster for years now.

3rd October ,Daily Mirror, focused, The Girls foot Ball team, at Bandiwewa Maha Vidiyalaya in Pollanaruwa, won the under 20 category, placed 3rd in the under 17 category, played in Jaffna, without any state or public support, they had to walk miles to the venue, no shoes to wear, no place to stay, etc, but were victorious, similarly capable cricketers available in the remote corners of SriLanka, who could be inducted into our national team.

Why chandimal was not selected, dimuth utter failure he is not good for one day, please keep up our reputation now in our next match with Bangladesh they too will best us and with New Zealand we might get out even less than 55 runs with the bowling attack they have. Very disgusting and heartbreaking now not interested to watch , better to switch to ella or basketball, or take some of the guys who play street cricket they are much better than the present lot fielding is very poor not up to the standard I till remember when roshan mahanama was playing how much effect he puts in the field great crickets , sangakkara, aravinda, ranatunga, dharmasena, madugulla, our great crickets.
