Sri Lankan businessmen invited to invest in mining sector in Burkina Faso



Burkina Faso, Dec 18 (Daily Mirror) - Transitional President of West African national Burkina Faso Ibrahim Tarore invited Sri Lankan Businessmen to take advantage of his lucrative mining sector.

Burkina Faso has significant reserves of minerals such as Gold, copper and zinc.

He made this request when Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Kenya Kana Kananathan, met him recently in a bid to foster bilateral ties. The meeting held recently, at Burkina Faso's presidential palace in Ouagadougoua marked by discussions emphasizing mutual cooperation and support in international fora.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Kananathan conveyed Sri Lanka's commitment to fortifying diplomatic ties and enhancing collaboration with Burkina Faso

The meeting between High Commissioner Kananathan and the Transitional President Tarore highlighted the shared desire to deepen existing partnerships and forge new alliances. Discussions centered around mutual interests in various sector especially in the mining sector.

He invited Ambassador Kananathan to bring in the Sri Lankan Businessman to take advantage of the country’s lucrative mining sector.

Kananathan briefed President Ibrahim Tarore on Sri Lanka’s dedicated efforts to foster robust partnerships with African nations. Aligned with the visionary agenda of President Wickremesinghe, Sri Lanka is fervently advancing its political, economic and commercial ties with Africa.

“Our commitment extends beyond mere collaboration; Sri Lanka is resolutely standing by Africa, recognizing the significance of shared values and mutual growth” Kananathan said. He added that Sri Lanka is eager to work with the African counterparts, fostering a relationship built on trust and cooperation.

Africa holds immense significance for Sri Lanka, and we stand in solidarity with the continent's aspirations and challenges. We are committed to supporting Africa's causes and championing its interests in global forums," stated Kananathan.

Acknowledging Burkina Faso's historical support for Sri Lanka in international for a, Ambassador Kananathan expressed gratitude and highlighted the importance of mutual collaboration between nations in advancing common objectives on the global stage.

In response, the Transitional President of Burkina Faso expressed appreciation for Sri Lanka's pledge of support and emphasized the significance of fostering stronger ties between Sri Lanka and African nations. He welcomed Sri Lanka's commitment to bolstering cooperation and collaboration, affirming the importance of solidarity among nations.

Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Kana Kananathan stated, "It is an honor to represent Sri Lanka and contribute to the enhancement of relations between our nations. We are committed to fostering a stronger partnership with Burkina Faso and working closely together on shared priorities at the international level."

In response, Mr. Tarore remarked, "We value the longstanding relationship with Sri Lanka and look forward to advancing our cooperation across multiple domains. Collaborative efforts will undoubtedly strengthen our diplomatic ties and contribute to shared prosperity."
