Sri Lankan casualties in Beirut blast rises to ten



The number of Sri Lankan casualties in the massive explosion in Lebanese capital Beirut, on Tuesday, has risen to ten, Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon said.

According to the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Lebanon Shani Karunarathne, the ten injured Sri Lankans are currently being treated in hospitals and their conditions are not critical.

Several boarding places of Sri Lankans have also been damaged due to the explosion, Karunarathne said.

“The Embassy has taken action to send dry rations for the affected Sri Lankans while those who are displaced have been provided with temporary accommodation by the Lebanese Government,” she said.

As a result of the sudden explosion, minor damages were caused to the Sri Lankan Embassy premises in Beirut and the residences of the Embassy officials.
