The stock of Covid-19 vaccines available in Sri Lanka will expire on August 24, Daily Mirror learns.

COVID-19 Coordinator Dr. Anwar Hamdani said there is a stock of Sinopharm vaccines at the moment.

“As such, still there is some time for anyone to be vaccinated. If anyone needs to get inoculated, they can reach the nearest MOH office,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the PHIU (Public Health Inspectors Union) Upul Rohana said earlier that there are a number of unvaccinated individuals who have requested vaccine certificates from health authorities for their international travel requirements, adding that there are no COVID-19 vaccines in Sri Lanka.

There is clamour for essential medicines which are not available. Covid 19 vaccines have been imported over the limit required leading to having them destroyed after the expiry date.

Don't always be critical. The remaining lot of covid vaccines is due to people not showing up to receive 4th dose of covid vaccine. Among u who criticise reflect back and see whether u got the 4th vaccine or not. Don't boast that u don't want covid vaccine now because had it not been invented u may not have survived till now along with ur families. Be thankful when it deserves

Covid Vaccines of many countries have expired as every country ordered a lot due to massive marketing efforts by WHO. The situation in Sri Lanka is no different . Sinopharm is also an approved vaccine by WHO and it worked for initial covid variants.
