State Minister’s private secretary arrested over Rs. 1.5 Mn bribe

Colombo, August 01 (Daily Mirror) - A private secretary to State Minister S. Viyalendiran and a political activist have been arrested on allegations of soliciting a bribe of Rs. 1.5 million.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABoC) said that the suspects were arrested following a complaint by a businessman from the Polonnaruwa area.

The suspects had allegedly solicited the bribe to facilitate the issuing of a permit from the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau.

The private secretary was arrested at the State Minister’s office in Batticaloa, while the political activist was arrested near a state bank in the same city.

The suspects are scheduled to produce before court.

This is not new. All the private sectaries of the ministers are highly corrupt. Specially minority community ministers are very shameless chaps. This covered polition from is famous for bribe. Earlier he was with mahinda and Co.

Ii was travelling in a plane with a Ghanaian Electrician who visited his home country and was returning to Australia. This chap told me that he met a government minister in his home country to discuss setting up a charity to train young electricians, the minister wanted to know what is in the project for him ie soliciting a bribe from a charity training endeavour. Sadly this is our mentality as well
