Station Masters decide on instant trade union action

Colombo, June 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Railways Station Masters' Union (SLRSMU) has decided to engage in a sudden trade union action due to not taking up their demands for discussion today.

Earlier, they said the strike was launched to demand proper solutions for the lack of promotions for Station Masters every five years.

However, the union decided to suspend their strike until today after a discussion with the Railways General Manager and State Minister of Transport Lasantha Alagiyawanna to seek approval from the Public Service Commission for their demands.

When we look at how stupidly we vote rogues into power and when we look at the amount of disruption and waste that happens in this country when elections are close one wonders if we should allow the rules to be changed for elections to be only held once in 10 years.

Only way to cure this sickness is for the payroll clerks to also suddenly fall sick and the strikers to not get paid. Can be the Teachers or the S. Masters all should feel the consequences.
