Station Masters to launch immediate trade union action

Colombo, October 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Railways Station Masters' Union (SLRSMU) has decided to initiate immediate trade union action in response to the recruitment of Station Masters in violation of traditional recruitment procedures.

Cabinet approval has been granted to appoint Station Masters and Railway Controllers every five years following an internal departmental examination.

The union has announced that this trade union action will commence within the next 72 hours.

Station Masters are one of the donkeys in the state sector. If they don't do a Strike once in two months, they can't sleep. In other countries, there are no such idiates as Station Masters . stations need only 2 people to issue tickets and keep the place under control. If the NPP is going to do a system change, one of the places they should change is the Railway department. It's funny to know trains can't operate without station masters. Wonderful country,

I can't see anything wrong with the cabinet decision. The traditional way of thinking of trade unions need to be changed. Let see how the new govt response to this.

They can be replaced easily. Most of the time they are the most useless fellows in the station.Never able to give passengers proper information.
