Striking railway workers to lose jobs

The government has decided to consider the railway workers who are on strike as having vacated their posts as per the gazette notification issued on September 12.

The gazette notification was issued by the Secretary to the President, Saman Ekanayake last month.

This is in line with the decision by the government to strictly enforce the gazette notification, according to sources from the President’s office.(Yohan Perera)

Like this will never really happen in Sri Lanka. These scoundrels know that all these are empty threats which is why they don't give a damn about government circulars. In my opinion, most of the railway staff should be fired by now and have legal action taken against them, for their reckless behavior that has caused immense inconvenience to the tax payers and has even caused the death of some.

Very good moove all govt departments offices that contribute to economy and public shouldn't be interrupted by strikes proper mechanism procedures should done for all workers accordingly whithout any inconvinece to sectors or the public government workers only work 7 months approx per year due to public holidays sat/sun poya other hoildays etc in the country workers mostly do overtime to make up holiday time by getting double time treble time etc...the country and countries economy public shouldn't suffer due to any event that can couse any inconvinece under any circumstances

Excellent, this is what should be done , too many staff in the Railway but tracks are full of grass , trains are dirty, tracks are not maintained properly, trains not running as per schedule, strikes from time to time , then what is the use of these employees? People who pay taxes cannot any longer pay these freeloaders to have their own way all the time. Go get lost now.

@German: Do you know the reason for the strike? Somebody had beaten somebody and they strike and put the train commuter s of the entire country in trouble. Do you think it is acceptable? SL economy is already struggling and this strike will cause huge loss to the railway department and must have affected productivity elsewhere due to workers getting late.
