A sudden train strike was launched a short while ago, demanding the suspension of duties of a security officer who had allegedly assaulted an under-guard, the Railways Department said.

They said the underguard was assaulted at the Maligawatta railway yard following a dispute.

The strike action affects only the trains operating from the Maligawatta railway yard. A discussion is being held with the Railways General Manager (GMR) regarding the issue. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Why was the under guard assaulted by the security guard? Sometimes when there is smoke there is also a fire.

The government should take immediate steps to either privatise or sell off the railway service to India or China and Chase all these fellows who go on strike because they are creating untold hardships to the general public.

Wha is happening in SLR. Always strike. Even for personal dispute between two railway staff lead to strike. Got. Shout take very stern action on striking unions. Even if it takes for more than a month no matter we the public can tolerate. But need to put a full stop.

There appears to be a hidden paw at work instigating to cause as much hardship to the commuters for political convinience. Where on earth is a whole train service distrupted due to an isolated issue like this? Identify the instigaters, sack and charge them for this act of sabotage. The authorities are being too lenient and soft on such elements.
