Sufficient buses assigned to operate till Monday: SLTB Chairman

Colombo, November 12 (Daily Mirror) -All Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots have been instructed to assign their existing bus fleets for operations from today until Monday (18), SLTB Chairman Ramal Siriwardana said.

He told the Daily Mirror that all provincial depots have been advised to operate buses according to the ongoing timetable to facilitate the transport of passengers in and out of Colombo.

Accordingly, an additional 70 buses have been assigned to operate in the Gampaha, Kalutara, and Colombo regions today, with another 80 buses assigned to Colombo Fort tomorrow to meet passenger demand.

These buses will be operated in addition to the existing timetable, he added.

"A total of 1,017 buses have been allocated to transport officials and ballot boxes for the elections. Additionally, 290 buses have been assigned to transport police personnel for election duties, all under a respective payment basis," he said.

Once the transport of officials and police personnel for election duties is completed, these buses will be available for public transport.

Due to the upcoming long weekend, all provincial depots have been advised to schedule buses to Colombo on Sunday (17) and Monday (18).
