Supreme Court rules parts of Financial Management Bill unconstitutional

The Supreme Court has determined that some clauses of the Public Financial Management Bill are inconsistent with the Constitution and can be passed only by a special majority and through a referendum, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced today.

In the recent past none of the Bills went through the SC without questionable provisions. If the government cannot get a Bill drafted complying with the Constitutional provisions, how can the present leader RW do his job. He has breached the Constitution a few times but escaped due to immunity.

@Ram - Bills are drafted taking into account the attitudes of persons who will be appointed in future to handle public funds, funds requirements, etc. There can be some ups downs, that does not mean the President is at fault. The Supreme Court Judges are human beings they too can error upto certain extent. President is doing his best anyone can prove this.

Hardly any bill is passed by the SC in total. There is always suggestions by them to reword a phrase or sentence, and enabled to be passed by a simple majority. It will be done here as well. SC too has persons with different viewpoints.
