Most of the hotels along the stretch is unauthorized! No government will have the guts to demolish. Most of the small shops and pavement hawker shops are unauthorized- try demolition? When the new NPP government is in power— all these unauthorized shops belonging to ‘common man’ will be authorized! At the expense of guess who? Good luck Sri Lanka! Ore the subversives into power!

Lot of illegal constructions of huts n small dwellings are seen obstructing the views of the sea along the new Moratuwa/Panadura road. UDA/MC should arrange to demolish these illegal dwellings. This is another action by the authorities to beautify our land

Councils cannot demolish unauthorised constructions without a court order. An application must be made to court seeking an order to demolish and that application gives an opportunity to the owner to prove if the construction is legal. The demolition is high handed

Unauthorised structures must be dealt with severely, no doubt. But why so quickly? Wouldn't such rash action could destroy valuable evidence? Any demolition must be done with a court order after concluding a thorough investigation and bringing perpetrators to books.

These lands belong to Sri Lanka Railways (SLR), government should have seized this property and use under Sri Lanka Railways (SLR) or to transfer to UDA to run and earn money prom this property rather then destroying it. I am 100 % sure Dehiwala and Mt Lavinia Mayor and some politician is involved in this project. Owner is this property Shiran Basik is a well-known drug trafficker, he was a Dehiwala and Mt Lavinia Municipal Council employer long time back.

Without a court order police cannot destroy a suspected permenent property in this way. Who gave permission to build it at first place, who gave approval for electricity and water. Why other properties alone the same area not removed as they also falls under unauthorized constructions right. This sounds fishy. Probably a revenge like incident. Probably those police officers,coast guards and even that backhoe operator may have to pay a heavy fine once the owners go to court. One of my known friend wanted to get rid of a petti kadaya in a land belongs to him and police did not do anything.They were told to go to courts by police. Still case is ongoing on courts. So this sounds fishy to me.
