Ten-inch tabs programmed with the entire school syllabus would be distributed to the students above grade nine in schools, instead of textbooks, Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando today said.

Theoretically a good initiative. No costs mentioned, though and how it's funded. I would say it's better to first invest this money in our teachers, pay them well, provide international and local teacher training before you just replicate an already archaic education system. Have a look at Iceland, which has the worlds no 1 education system. It was the above that helped, rather than technology.
