Tax relief proposals sent to IMF for approval: Siyambalapitiya



Colombo, August 16 (Daily Mirror) - Proposals for providing tax relief to taxpayers have been submitted to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Once the IMF approves, the tax relief will be granted, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

While addressing the media in Ruwanwella this morning, he said that people have faced significant hardships and made many sacrifices over the past two years. 

"The government is focused on providing relief to these people as soon as possible," he said.

As Finance Minister, the President understands the challenges society faces. Minister Siyambalapitiya added that the President constantly thinks of ways to offer relief to the people. 

He also emphasised that the government is committed to honoring agreements with the IMF to provide relief to taxpayers and the public as quickly as possible.
