Teacher interdicted for conducting tuition classes during school hours

Anuradhapura, July 18 (Daily Mirror)- A teacher of a leading government school in Anuradhapura has been interdicted with immediate effect for conducting private tuition classes during school hours.

Director of Education (NCP) S.M.W. Samarakoon said he had received several complaints from the residents of the area that the mathematics teacher of the school was in the habit of conducting private tuition classes during school hours and that he often signed attendance at school and left for private tuition.

The Director said he, with several staff officers carried out an inspection to find the particular teacher conducting a tuition class in the Saliyapura area during duty hours.
During the inspection, it transpired that the teacher had already obtained 26 days of leave this year without proper approval.

NPP will give him job back. Look there is no national policy on this matter. but to pick some and leave some out due to politics. Do not play politics with teaching. More teachers will the country as Doctors do.

INCREASE THE WAGES IN THE REMORE AREAS AND OR VILLAGES, SO THAT THE SAID TEACHER COULD BE IN CLASS TEACHING HIS STUDENTS, INSTEAD OF BEING ELSEWHERE TEACHING PRIVATELY TO MAKE ENDS MEET FOR THE FAMILY. OTHER COUNTRIES GIVE TEACHERS, DOCTORS AND SEVERAL OTHER PROFESSIONALS INCENTIVES TO GO WORK IN REMOTE AREAS.

My first question is whether it is a good or bad thing to impart knowledge to students? Only he has flouted the hours during which he has done. But why not look at the flip side of the coin all these things are happening because issues of Teachers/Principals have not been addressed by the government to redress these grievances. When a wrong is done by the government no one will criticize but when teachers/Principals do things to meet the ever increasing cost of living and sustain their families there is a hue and cry. As there is a saying 'NECESSITY HAS NO LAW'!!!!!!!!
