Teachers, principals to launch work-to-rule campaign

Colombo, July 16 (Daily Mirror) - The Teacher-Principal Trade Union Alliance has announced plans to initiate a work-to-rule campaign beginning July 22, lasting for a duration of two weeks.

According to General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union (CTU) Joseph Stalin, during the campaign period, members of the trade unions will strictly adhere to their school-related duties and responsibilities, refraining from participating in any activities beyond their mandated roles within the school environment.

Mahinda Jayasinghe, one of the two prime movers in this strike is a NPPer. Lal Kantha is trying to hoodwink people saying they are against strikes. They are doing everything to cripple the country. They do not care a damn about suffering of the people as long as they get power.

If the salary is not enough, please resign and either gohome or find a different job. Everything should have a limit and these trade union terrorists should be hanged in public. Also technically these activities are illegal as this is a period of elections. Also someone should take this terrorists union leader to SC.

Teachers don't participate in any activities beyond their mandated roles within the school environment anyway. So what's the difference?? So business as usual. How about they refrain from corporal punishment for a change during this period.

5 half days a week, 3 months holidays per year, holidays for every drought, rains, epidemics and matches, 21 sick and 21 personal leave per year and top of that no responsibility to produce results. This is the only job that no productivity demanded. Please work at least according to that.

As the parents we can not accept this strike because this is against the decision of the govt to pay for the teachers and to compliment their duties, who responsibly fulfilled their duties on the day of Starlin's strike in the last week. As the parents we appreciate the dedication of the teachers who have dedicated them self for the betterment of the education of our children apart from politics.

Show me a single school in which students were 100% taught by these teachers and got top results in O/L and A/L. All exams now require tuition classes. They are useless and they make themselves useless day by day. They don't read Daily Mirror to see these comments either.

Doubt most of them can even read a simple English sentence. These are the people demanding more money. They do nothing to improve their skills and education by certifications or training, but want to be paid and treated like they are world renowned experts in their field. If they implemented a KPI system to record how they put the training and certifications they attend in their daily work, majority of them will not achieve it.
