Thai woman nabbed at BIA with ’ice’ worth Rs. 100 million



Colombo, November 5 (Daily Mirror) - A Thai woman arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with 197 grams of 'ice' (crystal methamphetamine) concealed in her luggage.

The 33-year-old woman was detained at the green channel by officers of the BIA Narcotics Control Unit, with 5 kgs of the narcotic substance in her possession.

She arrived at the BIA from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, via Singapore on Singapore Airlines flight SQ468 at approximately 11:55 pm last night.

Customs investigations revealed that the street value of the seized narcotics is estimated at Rs. 100 million.

The Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Unit has requested assistance from the Police Narcotics Bureau, and further investigations are underway.
