SLPP’s Presidential Candidate, Namal Rajapaksa said that the other three leading candidates - Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake came with serious, troubled pasts, but he was the only candidate who did not have any such allegations.
In his maiden interview with Daily Mirror after declaring his candidacy, Namal also said that although his uncle Gotabaya Rajapaksa was very recently removed from Office following a severe crisis in the country, he believed that there was a planned conspiracy against him, similar to what happened in Bangladesh and if he himself had done anything wrong, he would not be contesting for Presidency. “I’m not afraid because we haven’t done anything wrong. If we have done anything wrong, I wouldn’t be contesting. If I, or my father is guilty of anything then we wouldn’t be facing the people in an election,” Namal said in his maiden interview after declaring his candidacy to contest for the Presidency on September 21. Namal further said that he was a new generation of Rajapaksa, and offered a modern and fresh thinking to uplift the nation.
“My thinking is modern. If we are to move to a modern Sri Lanka we should have modern thinking. My focus is to develop infrastructure, and rural economy, make Sri Lanka a global hub for services, and tourism. I’m looking at it with a very positive approach. I’m not going to say that I will catch all the thieves and find money to run the economy. I’m not going to say just because I increase the prices and reduce consumption, I can control the queues. I’m saying I will bring progressive changes to the administrative structure, to digitalisation,” Namal said.

Legitimate accusations you face regarding every aspect of your life that has effected the general public and wellbeing of the country surpass the other candidates combined. The dislike you face along with your family also the same. Just realise that you don't have a future in politics. Maybe you can consider it an expensive hobby since you have all the funding for it.

Former Premier of Singapore and LKY's son, said when he took over that "I do not want anyone who says I have been accused but not gone to jail, so I am clean". Rajapakses would have been ostracised there. Rajapakses live by that motto.

Others with ‘troubled pasts’ sounds like his saying in parliament that the protesters ought to be ‘rehabilitated!’ Many will opine that your entire family require rehabilitation! Be that as it may, it is hilarious that you are nominated and being afforded these interviews, for another human would hide in shame for the judgment already given against your elders, and the countless allegations against you all… Shame, fear of wrongdoing and humility are lessons beyond you people, obviously! The nation shall answer in due time.

Sadly, you are still a novice even when it comes to lying. Don't you come with a most tainted past of corruption and murder allegations? Moreover, you are not contesting because you are not guilty of anything; You are contesting to save the skins of your family and yourself from getting properly prosecuted and charged for crimes committed as well as to keep the `politics business` only to your family. Brother, you need much more than a moustache to mimic your father and cover up all the past atrocities.

An interview that is revealing for himself and the policies he is striving for, which Namal, this wannabe president (!), gave to the daily mirror here!!! It culminates in an arrogant, false self-image and excessive self-overestimation, a lack of reflection, extreme selective perception, historical stupidity, economic misjudgments and ignorance of the human situation in large parts of the country!!! His thinking is largely shaped by conspiracy theories and misinterpretations of reality!!! The absurdity of his statements reaches its climax when Namal states at the end of this interview with regard to the people in the country: "deep down they love us, they know that we have done nothing wrong"!!! Namal would deal Sri Lanka a political death blow, with him the country would no longer be able to be saved!!!

A Supporter of Rajapaksa Family Tuesday, 03 September 2024 01:02 PM
Stupid Namal; You did not come with troubled past because you and your family was the trouble for this country. At one stage Ceylon was better than most of the other Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia Vietnam before good leaders developed them but Rajapaksa family ruined Sri Lanka economically and morally. Rajapaksas can still do something. If your family return over US$ 50.0 billion looted from this country and leave politics and live quietly, Sri Lanka can still recover economically and morally.
0 15
P Kunchithapathan Tuesday, 03 September 2024 01:15 PM
Namal, as the son of the Rajapaksas, you cannot escape the consequences of the blunders committed by your family. You, too, held numerous ministerial positions and misused your power on multiple occasions. Though you introduced many modern initiatives as a young leader, everything was overshadowed by the actions of your father and Basil. The corruption and the ongoing economic crisis have pushed the people to their limit, and they are unwilling to forgive you or your family. You all appointed Ranil Wickremesinghe as the president and now you are contesting against him. How do you justify that?

Voting for a politician known for corruption might seem counterintuitive, but it could be a strategic decision if the alternative is worse or if there is a slim chance they might implement policies that benefit the people. Sometimes, even corrupt politicians understand that their legacy or future ambitions depend on achieving at least some positive outcomes. By holding them accountable and making it clear that their position depends on their actions, voters can leverage this to push for the right decisions. Moreover, a corrupt politician with experience might be more effective in navigating complex systems to deliver results, however imperfectly, than an inexperienced or unproven candidate. So that’s why I like this guy.

I think the most important he needs to do right now is look into putting together a legal team that will try to help them evade lengthy prison terms together with the rest of his disgraceful clan. Although I doubt they will be able to escape under the new NPP government.

Development vs anti corruption promises Tuesday, 03 September 2024 05:05 PM
Other candidate say what people want to hear. In the grand scheme of things, Namal has a good vision for a well developed country like the ones people are fleeing to. Unfortunately, it is not what the people desire to hear at this time. They want a tough-on-crime, disciplined government and society. And Namal is not listening. The one good thing is we know that development is achievable and he will deliver. Other candidates make promises of fighting corruption but we know it will never happen. Their track record speaks for them..

This is only a small glimpse of the self opinionated, self righteous and clueless candidate that Sri Lankans are going to vote for? No thank you!
