Though talks fail, health strike to be called off

Colombo, Jan 16 (Daily Mirror) - The ongoing strike action by the health workers will come to an end from 8 am tomorrow (17).

According to the health trade unions, the meeting held with the Acting Finance Minister and other stakeholders ended with no proper solutions.

However, the Finance Ministry will bring the grievances to the attention of the President who is currently overseas.

The health trade unions also had a discussion with the Health Ministry officials this afternoon where the concerns were referred to the Finance Ministry.

When one is away on strike he/ she loses pay. The unions getting back with their tails tucked behind their backs.

Any government will not have a backbone to publish the average salary package applicable to a particular grade (not taking number of years services into calculation) people will see the real picture. Right now everyone thinks all government servant are having very poor pay because politicians run big vehicles and have security guards. (Because some joker has promised to take away vehicles and guards after winning and use that money to rebuild the economy)
