Many wife lost husband, and then have to find way to look after children. In Africa and European countries, historically it is survival any means possible for widows. Here mothers kill themselves and their children instead of being brave to somehow finding way to feed them.

In SL no safety net, tough going without breadwinner, must have suffered a mental collapse to kill the children, maybe not educated to work must be many situations like this wish there was some fund or other means to support them

This is so so so sad! If the mother poisoned the children and took her own life, then it shows the absolute desparate state of the nation!! As citizens of the country we should also be ashamed and are responsible too, that nobody knew/noticed the hardships their neighbours are going through until it was too late. This is the present day society where lives are controlled by mobile phones, and people are "conveniently" unaware of the sufferings, hardships of another human being...shame on us!

Although Sri Lanka tries to be flashy in Colombo city, it is unfortunate that mental health, support for women and children, poverty alleviation, healthcare and education are broken systems. The poor have absolutely no hope. The disparity between rich and poor is so wide the poor have become poorer and rich are now richer since the collapse of the economy. Don't blame covid. It has nothing to do with covid but more to do with corruption and swindling of public funds by politicians who are walking free enjoying their loot.

Honestly if no way at all you sell your body for sometime alternatively as time goes see what happens and slowly find a life for u as well as yr children.This is normal in other countries.losing yr life and children is a unwanted and religion does not allow at all .

However, NO money is given to the hand, bills are paid for by the organization. We also have churches and not for profit organizations that have housing which they let for a very nominal rent and or government share homes until a suitable place is found for those fleeing family violence etc. It is time the FILTHY RICH join hands together and set up a NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION to help the poor in need. " We come with nothing into this material world and pass through but once". We take NOTHING WITH US, the trouble is most FILTHY RICH think only of " me myself and family" and do not give a rats tail of the poor suffering people in the Country, time for MORE COMPASSION, LOVE, CARING AND GO OUT OF ONES WAY TO FIND THESE PEOPLE LISTEN TO THEIR PLIGHTS AND HAVE A REGISTER AND CONTACT POINT IN ALL AREAS WHERE ONE CAN GO AND ASK FOR HELP.
