Three electrocuted at house construction site

Three people were electrocuted at a house construction site in Norochcholai, when an iron scaffold came into contact with a live wire, police said.

The victims were residents of Old Mannar Road in Puttalam.

A private contractor had been assigned to construct the house and had employed masons and carpenters for the project.

Our construction industry must be regulated with health and safety measures : the government must discuss this issue with some experts on this subject of health and safety experts : how many people will be died if the government left this matter in the hands of construction companies and builders and real estate people ? Our accident death in all areas of accidents may exceed more than 6000 in all fields : road accident alone 2500 What about death fire accidents/ drawing in rivers/ lakes and sea? What about death in industrial accidents?’ What about death by falling from trees and other places What about train accidents? Our accidental deaths may be more 5000 annually: Health minister must take some measures to stop all these unnecessary death? I wish that some one sue the health minister for some of these deaths?

All constructions should have building permits, and approval standards every step starting with scaffolding ,till the very end.Workers should be protected at any cost. It is distressing that simple precautions are not adhered to causing lives to be lost. Prevention, with strict building codes and supervision and approval at every stage will be beneficial.
