Thumb of the voters to be marked at the General Election?

Colombo, October 24 (Daily Mirror) - There is a possibility of the thumb or any other finger of the voters to be marked at the general elections this year, according to a statement by the Election Commission.

“Whereas the little finger of the voter’s left hand had been marked with ink at the Presidential election held on September 21, 2024, and the thumb will be marked at the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election on October 26, 2024, the index finger of the voter’s left hand will be marked at the general elections in order to address the potential issues with the marking of the voter as per Section 38(3) (b) of the Parliamentary Elections Act No. 1 of 1981,” the statement said.

It also stated that that if the voter does not have an index finger on the left hand, then the thumb will be marked.
