Colombo, November 22 (Daily Mirror)- Due to a low pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal, thundershowers would occur in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern Provinces and in the Matale district and showers would occur at several places elsewhere in the island during the evening or night, the Meteorology Department said.

They said a low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23 and thereafter, it is likely to intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent two days.

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern Provinces.
Fairly strong winds up to 40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces and in the Matale district.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern Provinces during the morning.

The low pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal may intensify further and move near the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka. 

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
