Train delay on coastal line continues



Colombo, March 20 (Daily Mirror) - Delay of train services on the coastal line continue due to the derailment of a train between Colombo Fort and Kompannaveediya railway stations last evening, the Railways Department said.

They said the express train from Colombo Fort to Kalutara South was derailed between Colombo Fort and Kompannaveediya railway stations and train operaitons on both the tracks of the coastal line were stopped.

As of now, one line has been opened for train traffic, while the other line is still undergoing repairs, the Department said.

Even though the preparations for trains towards Colombo have been completed, trains from Colombo to the south on the coastal line were halted yesterday and there are no trains to return have not run. Due to this, they said.
