Train passing Ragama derails this morning

Colombo, September 16 (Daily Mirror) - The train arriving from Maho to Colombo derailed after passing the Ragama Station a short while ago, the Railways Control Room said.

They said heavy damages have been caused to the railway track due to the derailment.

However, no injuries were reported, but the train services on the main line will be delayed until the track is cleared.

This is son after railway unions derailed resumption of the northern line to indirectly support their favored candidate. No concern at all about the travelling public whose tax money pays these freeloaders salaries. Yet their masters claim to be people-friendly.

The railway unions delayed the resumption of services on the northern line because the renovation works are far from over. The tracks have not been laid very firmly and hardly any test runs have been completed. Trains cannot be driven at the expected speed of 120 km/hour. More importantly, the signalling system is far from complete. Operating trains under these circumstances would put the passengers' lives at grave risk. My belief is that the highly reliable but grossly inefficient tablet system is no longer functioning. Only one station of several have been completely renovated.

Most of the trains running on tracks are not suitable to carry passengers. They are so old and what have the governments done to improve the service for the public. Pure nothings. Just patching up and running until a huge disaster takes place. The politicians don't care because they travel in V8's. From the 21st onward get use to travel in bullock carts.
