Two dayter supply in several areas in Kandy will be disrupted for two days from September 28, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) said.

Accordingly, the water supply will be disrupted from 1.00 p.m on Saturday.

The supply will be restored on September 30 at 6.00 p.m due to the water draw down by the Mahaweli Authority at the Polgolla diversion dam.

Therefore, consumers in the areas are requested to store enough water to manage their requirement during these two days.

I cannot understand the English used. Supply is to suspended on the 28 th and restored on the 30 th due to water draw down. What is meant by this? This is a shame on a national newspaper.

Nothing of the sort. Periodically gates are opened at Polgolla to do the maintenance. When the water level is drawn down, Water Supply Board cannot use the pumps. Don't try to be sarcastic where no sarcasm exists.

Don't they stock enough water in overhead tanks or elsewhere to meet emergencies such as this? Does this mean that, if the water levels at Polgolla are very low, Kandy and its environs will be without water until the levels are restored? What poor planning.
