Two killed in accident on Southern Expressway

Galle, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - Two persons were reportedly killed in an accident on the Southern Expressway near the Kurundugahetekma Interchange, police said.

A lorry crashed into two highway workers, resulting in their deaths after being admitted to Karapitiya Hospital.

The deceased, aged 36 and 63, were identified as residents of Imaduwa and Dikkumbura.

RDA has outsourced some services and those private firms are putting labourers to the expressway without much concern on their safety. I think most of these labourers are not aware of the danger they are exposed to. The Labour department has the powers to prosecute the employers including the RDA

Even in capital city Colombo and around, not only off roads but main important municipality roads are full of potholes, trishaw parks obstructing ends of roads and drivers, who attempting to avoid those leading to serious accidents, no one to oversee in this funny miracle of Asia , just see whether newly confirmed IG could do something on this
