Colombo, October 18 (Daily Mirror) - Senior Professor Kapila Senevirathne has been appointed as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

He was appointed following the recent resignation of Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga from the position.

Every time there is an appointment, henchmen from the opposition politicians comment on them as buddies or political appointments. He has to appoint people from the current system. Another thing is that we need to give him (The president) some time to see whether these appointments will work or not. Also, no one can guarantee, or we won't be able to see every appointment is worth it as some individual may fail in their job. It can be seen anywhere in the world. More than 80-90% of the appointments made by previous governments during the last 30 years were either political or friends or relations.

You dont need this UGC at all lik the NCHE ysteryear. let student select directly the uni of theior choice like in other countries. this britsish stupid minded fools never attempt anything outside the box
