What ever said and done nice to see some younger (or less old) people finally making decisions in the Grand Old Party (even if it is a rubber stamp). Political pursuations aside, RW may be the best hope to ensure we continue on a stable economic policy path. If we don't have economic policy stability and deviate from the current chartered course, the country is certain to end up in an economic crisis of much greater proportion. We recall the fairy tales of 2019 and the stupidity that followed. We are now paying the cost of the foolish decisions of lowering government fiscal revenue, balloning subsidies, growing public service cardres, high unproductive capital expenditure, and significant deficit generating State Owned Enterprises. We simply cannot risk going back to any of these yet again. Corruption still needs to the tackled, and needs to be brought to the list of urgent priorities.

If anyone is not supportive of ensuring that each one pays their fair share of direct taxes, then they support the increasing indirect taxes like VAT. Also it speaks volumes of those who would not want a TIN for everyone like in most other countries and pay there fair share. Most likely their past behavior toward paying their fair share of direct taxes has contributed to the increases necessary in indirect taxes.

Taxpayers feel fair if, transparent process is there to collect bad debt of current and past regimes tune up to billions from politicians their relatives secondly, if any genuine effort to punish and collect calculated lost of central bank scam from scammers including RW thirdly, any effort to identify calculate and bring back national wealth Looted by scoundrel MR, changing this rich country a bankcrupt one and it’s people more like paupers in the world stage ,without putting genuine effort for above, it would be hard to pressure people to pay tax and forceful effort would end up in a revolt

In developed countries one has to get a TIN when you are born. We are 18 years late.

An old man who turned into an autocrat at the end of his political life and sacrificed his political ethical values is doing everything he can to become a popularly elected president. If he doesn't know that he has no chance, then nothing else means that his brain is moving towards dementia. He should leave the field to younger politicians, since he has completely failed as president elected by parliament. He should withdraw from political life with dignity instead of disappearing from the political stage as a loser.

He will continue to get the economy in better shape within the next few years with his advisers. However, all past crimes will definitely not be solved as he knows it will create more chaos if he disturbs the “bee hives”

All other parties intending to contest at this election will be overjoyed at this marvellous piece of news. As for the pin president, he will forfeit his deposit. Incidentally he has said that he is aiming for 10 million votes but should consider him lucky if he can garner at least 10,000.

None of these management committee members were able to win a seat last time. Everybody who robbed this country will join Ranil. Namal will be the PM. Bond Ravi Finance Minister, Choka malli for Defense, Keheliya for Health, Diana for Ganja. Can you guess who will be governor of the Central Bank.

It's just a decision of the UNP Management Committee. Doesn't automatically mean Ranil will accept to contest. If he does, it'll remove all lingering doubts that Ranil Wickremasinghe is indeed insane!

Exactly news. We must select unelected master debating president to elect master debating president the world ever had. The full of family crooks need tobe banned entering the parliament. We must elect minority president to master debate unelected master debating president who wants spend the night in mile high club. Unelected master debating president has done huge amount of internal work on normal folks back over 50 years. They struggle to eat and walk. Unelected master debating president master debated central bank and master debated eaglemaithiri is struggling to walk. Unelected master debating president helped to bankrupt my beloved country. We must build his statue without his trousers to see how much work has been doing to please
