US President congratulates President Dissanayake; pledges support to Sri Lanka

Colombo, Sep 27 (Daily Mirror) - While congratulating President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his victory, US President Joe Biden said he looks forward to working with President Dissanayake to advance peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

"The people of Sri Lanka chose you as their president in a free, fair and peaceful election of which they are justifiably proud of," Biden said.

In response, President Dissanayake affirmed his commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and the US.

"I also reiterate my government’s commitment to a peaceful, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region," President Dissanayake replied to President Biden.
