Ragama, Feb 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Railways Department announced that train operations on the main line will be delayed due to the derailment of the Udarata Menike express train near the Ragama railway station.

They said the train plying from Badulla to Colombo at 5.45 a.m. derailed near the Ragama station.

Therefore, the department announced that train operations on the main line will be delayed.

Best is procedure is hand over PURCHASING, SOLELY to Basil - Knows Best course of action to follow, after collecting, “YOU KNOW WHAT”, and changing Specifications, suit manufacturer or Supplier! Suppliers' Requirement are Far More Important than Country's, Railway Department Stipulations!!?? So change the Railway Lines, SLR 'Way and Works Department' and also, “Topography of the Lay of the Land”, if it becomes Necessary!!?? Problem Solved and 20% collected!! Please get Indian Aid and Indian Rail Corp to get the Main Line Re-laid!!?? Must be over a Century, since Mainline was inaugurated, by British and due Maintenance of Island-wide Track Maintenance ceased with B D Rampala's exit in 1970's!!?? Please don't publicise too much, lest it be heard by WW and JVP and causes 'Heart Ache', about "Indian Aid and Indian Rail"!! Let Peace prevail and SLR thrive!!??

Now this train has a tendency to derail at least once a week and consequently delay most other trains or bring the entire train service to a complete hall in the hill country. In a similar way the government, too, will be derailed very soon.

Every politician and their close associdates in this country drive super luxury German vehicles. Even in politicians in Germany don't spend this much on vehicles. I know this for a fact because I have seen it myself. How come SL doesn't have the funds to fix the railway infrastructure. when they have so much money to buy vehicles. I have spoken to so many tourists while visiting SL and almost all were frustrated with frequent derailments. In the meantime, country is working on making SL a happening place. Joke of the century

In Sydney track maintenance is carried out every weekend. There has not been a derailment for a very long time. SL should get advice from City Rail, Sydney.

Enough is enough. This should be handover to India or China, including of railway lands to run the systems, efficiently, economically without breakedowns and strikes. I believe,they will re invest to run the system smoothly. Perhaps they would decide to build supermarkets ,wholesale centers around railway lands/ stations in populated areas and transport Jaffna and upcountry vegitables and other aggricultural productes at low cost manner by rail during night times, to sell at reasonable prices. This will reduce road traffice to some extends in public roads. Reduce road accidents to some extend. This is a one of my dream. If RW can bring this my long term dream into reality, I will definetly vote for him in the next PE. Enough is enough.

It is reported all the time its the railay trains that serve the Up Country that get derailed all the time. Is there a selective sabotage taking place to enable maintenance workers to earn extra monies??? trade Unions must answer this querry.
